Safety is paramount, like most sports and physical activities pole dance comes with risks and potential injuries so it’s very important for you, your fellow students and instructor that you follow the health and safety guidelines at all times. As well as staying safe it’s also really important to maintain a respectful, supportive and inclusive class environment. There is ZERO tolerance for any behaviour deemed as disrespectful or dangerous, you will be asked to leave immediately without a refund.
please don’t be late, the warm up is a very important part of injury prevention. If you are going to be late please get in touch ASAP by texting 07928349354
Please remove shoes before entering the studio and wearing a mask in communal areas whenever possible, you can remove your mask when in your personal area and in your pole, all mats and clothes are replaced or cleaned between sessions and of course the poles are cleaned after every class.
If you want to take videos or pictures during the class you are very welcome to, just please check with anyone else who may be in your picture or video that they are happy with that especially if it’s going on social media.
No illegal drugs or alcohol before class.
Please avoid heavy moisturiser on your body on the day of your class. It can make it impossible to grip to the pole. There are many skin types and body creams out there, it’s usually a matter of experimenting, discussing with your instructor and having a look at pole specific grip aids etc
Ideally all jewellery should be removed at the beginning of class, this is to prevent injury and damage to the poles.
Never attempt a new move without fully listening to the instructions and using a spotter when appropriate. If you don’t understand something just ask, many people need things explained multiple times or in a different way and the instructor is there to help

Health and safety and COVID-19
It is very important you adhere to the health and safety guidelines, pole dancing is a fantastic work out and a really fun and empowering way to work on your fitness and confidence as well as learn a new skill, however like most sports it comes with risks. To minimise the risk to yourself and others you must follow the health and safety guidelines listed below. Failure to do this may result in you not being able to attend your class or being banned from the studio.
As part of the new COVID situation there are some new essential rules and guidelines.
When you arrive at the external entrance to the studio please ring the bell and I will let you in. Please only bring a small bag with essential items and where possible wear your pole clothes under leggings or tracksuit that can easily be removed.
You will need to use hand sanitiser and remove your shoes when first entering the studio building, you will need to use hand sanitiser when entering the actual studio and before and after entering the bathroom. If you would like to wear a mask please do so, although according to government guidelines this is not essential for gyms however I will be wearing one.
Avoid touching anything you don't need to, all light switches can be left on and I will open and close the external door.
If you have any concerns about your health and or COVID-19 status please let me know ASAP.
Whilst I will be doing everything possible to minimise the risk of spreading the disease nothing is guaranteed especially in an activity like pole dancing.
Please arrive no earlier than five minutes before your class and make sure you leave the premisses within 5 mins after your class to allow for cleaning and changeover time.
If you have any health issues or concerns please consult your doctor prior to booking. You can discuss any questions with me in confidence by emailing valkyriepoledancer@gmail .com or using the contact form at the bottom of the home page.
Always listen to the instructor, if you are unsure about any of the instructions just ask.
Do not attempt new moves without the help of a spotter.
Listen to your body, don’t push yourself too far, there is nothing wrong with asking for an easier variation. Bruises, skin burn and the occasional pulled muscle are all fairly normal however more serious injuries are likely to occur if you attempt moves you are not ready for.
Your injuries are your responsibility. If you are injured please make sure you tell your instructor please follow their advice and if the problem has not resolved after a few days seek the advice of a doctor or medical professional.
Avoid greasy moisturiser, body oils or anything else that might make your body slippy on the pole. if you need to use a body moisturiser on the day of your class, try and use something that absorbs quickly and does not leave your oily otherwise you will probably have trouble gripping the pole.
If you have had surgery or have given birth in the past 6 months you should consult your doctor before starting classes.
If you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant I can not teach you, there are some studios and instructors that may be qualified to do this but I am not.
If you have a long term health issue please speak to your doctor if you have the approval of a medical professional you can speak to me in complete confidentiality to ensure we understand how your condition may affect your training and make sure we can support you in the best way possible.
No Jewellery, there is a risk of getting it caught and tearing the piercing as well as scratching the poles.
No drugs or alcohol before class
I can not accommodate lateness, if you arrive late for your class you will still need to finish on time. This is worth considering if you live far away or traffic and transport are likely to be unreliable. If you are going to be late you must text 07928349354
